-Read Oedipus some more...
-Went over key terms/ideas that you need to have a firm grasp of by Tuesday. You need to understand each term and how to identify it in your reading.
1. motif
2. archetype
3. strophe/antistrophe and the purpose of each
4. irony (dramatic, situational, and verbal)
5. tragic hero
6. key terms from Aristotle's "Poetics" that you will be summarizing and reading for homework tonight (this means you need to look for key ideas as you read! Shocking, I know.)
Homework:
-Finish up Oedipus (whatever we don't get to in class)
-Answer these questions about your reading
-Read this summarized version of Aristotle's Poetics.
-Use this handout to summarize what you read. Note: this is not the easiest reading... make sure you read carefully and understand each heading and the key ideas fully.
-Keep studying your vocab for a quiz on either Tuesday or Wednesday
Learning Target:
-I will be able to read and understand key ideas in Oedipus and the major literary terms that arise in the text.
